The European Commission has announced that it will start the evaluation of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 November 2009 on cosmetic products.
This most important piece of legislation for the European cosmetics industry was adopted 15 years ago, hence the need to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses. The initiative aims to verify whether the legislation designed to protect consumers and ensure the functioning of the internal market for cosmetic products meets the expectations that accompanied its adoption.
According to the European Commission's website, the anticipated date of the public consultation is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025 and the planned adoption of the assessment by the Commission for the second quarter of 2026.
