The introduction of regulations on prohibited systems in the act on artificial intelligence is intended to prevent us from suffering the fate of the inhabitants of the dystopia described by Orwell in “1984.” However, if the regulations are so general, it is easy to apply them selectively. What constitutes manipulation will therefore depend on the authorities and courts applying the new law in 27 similar but nevertheless different jurisdictions, writes Dariusz Tarabasz, attorney and partner at our law firm.
