Should Google pay Polish publishers over €78 million annually for using their news content?
According to the latest report by Swiss consulting firm FehrAdvice & Partners, the value that Polish media bring to Google should be compensated with €78.67 million annually (approximately PLN 335 million). The analysis was commissioned by the Association of Digital Publishers and takes into account, among other things, the added value that journalistic content generates for Google's services.
Google has responded critically to the report's findings, describing it as inaccurate. Company representatives pointed out that similar studies in other countries have been questioned.
The issue of remuneration for journalistic content is gaining importance across Europe, including in the context of the implementation of the EU Directive on copyright and related rights in the digital single market.
