Do we need a new law dedicated to rare diseases? For many patients with rare diseases, everyday life is not only a struggle with symptoms, but also with the system – lack of access to diagnostics, treatment or rehabilitation. Current regulations often do not take into account the specific nature of these conditions.
At a meeting of the Parliamentary Team for Rare Diseases, it was announced that work had begun on a new bill concerning rare diseases. According to the information presented during the meeting, the Team intends to draft a separate law dedicated specifically to these diseases, defined as those occurring at a frequency of less than 1 in 2,000 people.
