Record fine for abuse of the market dominance

On June 27, 2017 the European Commission imposed the fine for abuse of market dominance on Google concern. The amount of the fine equals 2,4 billion euros. Thereby it is the highest penalty for infringement of antitrust law imposed by the European Commission. The previous largest penalty equaled 1,06 billion euros.

According to the European Commission, Google abused its market dominance as a search engine by unfairly favoring its own shopping service.

The concern disagrees with the imposed fine and announced it considers an appeal.
