Naming of medicinal products and umbrella branding – the new guidelines of the President of the URPL

On the 23rd of January the President of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products published new guidelines concerning naming of medicinal products for human use. The guidelines are replacing:
- the guidelines on the naming of medicinal products for human use of the 27th of January 2011.
- the guidelines for the implementation and verification of the correctness of umbrella’s sections, included in the names of medicinal products for human use of the 30th of June 2014.

The new guidelines are unifying the content of those documents, and, to some extent, complementing their previous content. According to the new guidelines, while verifying a name of a medicinal product, in order to avoid mistakes,i.e. the power of the medicine, route of administration, and similarity of names.
