The consultations on drafted act on State Food Safety Inspectorate have come to an end.
The drafted act assumes establishing an institution, which is to replace the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection, the Main Inspectorate of Plant Health and Seed Inspection, Veterinary Inspection as regards the inspection and surveillance of food safety. New competence of extraordinary inspection also includes some of the tasks belonging previously to the State Sanitary Inspection (excluding food supplements), Trade Inspection and Inspectorate of Environmental Protection.
Those tasks should relate to: labelling and advertising of food and usage of health and nutrition claims. Establishment of the State Food Safety Inspectorate is planned for 1 January 2018.
