Anti-terrorist law introduces obligation on pre-paid card subscribers to disclose personal data

On 25th July 2016, new provisions of the anti-terrorist law came into force considering pre-paid phone cards.  All subscribers are now obliged to register their cards and service providers will verify buyers identity. The objective of this new regulation is to provide better measures for preventing threats such as communication between terrorists or crime groups. 

According to new regulations, to purchase a pre-paid card it is necessary for buyers to show their identity card and for foreigners - their passport or residence card. According to the Act, owners of previously purchased pre-paid card are obliged to register their cards until 1st February 2017. This can be made in place of service or with the mobile operator. In case of not registering, all cards will be disabled after that date.
